Ridgemount Cottage Nursery
Exploration. Discovery. Independence. Community.
Ridgemount Cottage was founded by Louise, who opened the doors of the old dairy building in the grounds of her family home in 1994, welcoming just one child.
Since then, there have been lots of changes, lots of mess and lots of smiles! But our values have stayed the same.
We've designed our outdoor area with our intrepid explorers in mind. Whether they enjoy den-making and tree-climbing in our woodland area, working with nature in our cottage garden and veg patch, or just getting messy in the mud kitchen, there is something for everyone. Just don't forget your welly boots!
Imagination helps children find their own joy and way of learning. We offer open-ended activities so children can discover what works for them, while also playing alongside their friends. Our skilled team are always there to support each child’s development while they are busy having fun.
We encourage children to independently make choices in their everyday routine. We support children to build relationships, creating sociable, happy children who will be confident making friends in the next stage of their journey, whether that’s at Ridgemount, primary school or on a fishing boat off the Galapagos islands.
We have church visits, library visits, coffee mornings for parents and grang parents, trips to the retirement home and much more. We want children to love their close community as well as their larger one, helping the charities we support such as The Wildlife Trust. After all, individually we are a drop but together we are an ocean.
"Great place for small explorers. My daughter absolutely loves coming here. All staff working there give all their hearts to the kids, they are so amazing. I honestly recommend it."
