The Cottage

Ridgemount Cottage Nursery School takes its name from the cottage grounds in which it is set - the former family home of our founder, Louise. She began the transformation of the cottage’s bakery into Ridgemount Cottage Nursery School back in 1991. Having left her job as a primary school teacher to concentrate on her dream, Louise was finally ready to open the Ridgemount doors in November 1994 - when she was the only member of staff and there was only one child!

The outside space hosts an impressive purpose-built climbing-frame, as well as two spaces designed with the toddlers and babies in mind. More recently, the cottage garden has been transformed into a nature area, with a vegetable patch, mucky garden and coup for ex-battery chickens. We have begun developing a woodland area to teach children about the world around them while doing our bit for the environment.

We have begun the exciting process of expanding into the cottage itself, offering each group even more space inside and outside. We will keep you up-to-date with these wonderful changes as they happen.
