Ridgemount Cottage Nursery School takes its name from the cottage grounds in which it is set - family home of our owner, Louise. She began the transformation of the cottage’s bakery into Ridgemount Cottage Nursery School back in 1991. Having left her job as a primary school teacher to concentrate on her dream, Louise was finally ready to open the Ridgemount doors in November 1994 - when she was the only member of staff and there was only one child!
The outside space hosts an impressive purpose-built climbing-frame, as well as two spaces designed with the toddlers and babies in mind. More recently, the cottage garden has been transformed into a nature area, with a vegetable patch, mucky garden and coup for ex-battery chickens. We have begun developing a woodland area to teach children about the world around them while doing our bit for the environment.
